When I graduated from Cal Poly in 1987, I could have chosen from any of a number of enticing positions at several different accounting firms, including the then "Big 8". I chose to go to work at VLS because I wanted to earn my CPA license at a firm that was large enough to give me many varied experiences and opportunities, but small enough so that I
wouldn't be just another face in the crowd. I found all of that and more at VLS. During my 12 years there I was continually challenged and motivated to grow in my profession. I was given virtually unlimited opportunities to chart my own career path and move ahead. At the same time, I was always very appreciative of the progressive management style of the firm's partners. Quality of life issues were always very important to them; they constantly strove to provide a fun and supportive work environment, while being especially "family-friendly". In addition, the commitment to excellence and highest ethical standards always made me very proud to be associated with the firm.
My experiences at VLS provided me with an outstanding background and firm foundation for my current position as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for Glendora USD. I have done so in the past, and I will continue to give VLS the highest recommendation as a place to work, and as a professional services firm.
